Summertime is a good time to get out and hit the open road, and few roads are as open as the Old Red Old Ten Scenic Byway, which runs from Mandan to Dickinson. The Old Red Old Ten Scenic Byway plays host to many of the state’s richest historic and cultural points of interest, and KK BOLD was able recently to help draw attention to these locations with the dual launchs of a new website and their new Talking Trails program.

Working in conjunction with the Bismarck-Mandan Developer’s Association, KK BOLD helped to launch the Talking Trails program that runs along the Old Red Old Ten Scenic Byway. Each site of interest along the Byway now has a special sign with a 1-800 number and an extension to call. The call directs to a prerecorded message with detailed information on that particular location, with historical facts and tidbits of trivia on the area. Each site has its own unique recording, which we helped to write, edit and produce.The Talking Trails program is expected to expand in the future, and is meant to provide travelers with a sense of discovery as they seek out each location.

Each of the 42 recordings produced for the Talking Trails program can also be heard at the Old Red Old Ten Scenic Byway’s new website, located at oldredoldten.com. Other items of interest for visitors to the site include historical information on the various stops on the Byway, maps and information on activities to be found along the route, lodging and dining information, an interactive photo gallery and links to other sites of interest related to the Trail. The site also links to the Old Red Old Ten Facebook page, which you are highly encouraged to visit and to like.

This project has been an exciting and educational one for those of us at KK BOLD who have worked on it. We hope that same sense of entertainment and enlightenment will carry through to anyone who experiences the Old Red Old Ten Scenic Byway in their travels this summer.
